Make mine a double: you smashed it!

Incredible! Together we’ve smashed Awamu’s target. Now we can push ahead with our plans to create our new ‘Nansamba Safe Haven’ – a dedicated safe space for girls who have experienced sexual violence in the slum of Kampala. Thank you to everyone who gave so generously.

As a small charity every single donation, share and word of support makes a huge difference. It is so inspiring to see what we can achieve together.

Our Safe Haven will be a vital lifeline

Because of you girls will find not just safety, but a supportive community to help them heal. This includes medical care, psychological support and access to legal professionals.

Our Safe Haven will be staffed and led by local women - experts in their field who know best how to create lasting change. Many are survivors of violence themselves.

I will leave you with the words of a young woman I spoke to last week who told me about the support she got from our team in Kampala:

“Whenever I think I can’t go on they [the team] hold me up. They are there to support me. I am so thankful to have them on my side”
